Filipinas ready to fight to the death

AWARE of the stakes involved, Australian coach Marc Torcaso vowed that the Filipinas “would fight right to the death” when they face South Korea today in an all-important Group A match of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup at the Robina Stadium in Gold Coast, Australia.

Still smarting from a close 0-1 loss to the Australian Matildas in Perth over the weekend in their opening game, the Filipinas won't settle for anything less than a draw or an outright win when they tackle the Taejuk Ladies at the 27,000-seat arena at 9 a.m, (11 a.m. in Manila).
Both results would sustain their drive for a second straight trip to the FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil next year, and Torcaso said during the pre-match interview yesterday that their ultimate goal has not changed.
