Youngsters stepping up to help the Knights cope with injury adversity

Ryan Aldridge acknowledges that during Leeds Knights' period of unprecedented success over the last three years, they have not been bitten too badly by the injury bug.

Youngsters stepping up to help the Knights cope with injury adversity

How he wishes that was still the case at the moment.

Last weekend saw the Knights already short on bodies - and experience - when they made the trip south to Milton Keynes Lightning.

Defencemen Jordan Griffin and Lewis Baldwin were ruled out through injury, with forward Mac Howlett still laid low by an illness.

Just a few minutes into the game at the 'Thunderdome', the Knights were then hit by a further blow when they lost import defenceman Matt Staudacher to injury.

He didn't return to the action and also missed Sunday night's game at home to Solway Sharks.

The lower-body injury suffered by the 25-year-old American will also keep him out of the lineup this weekend.
