When is it too hot to work?

As another heatwave tightens its grip, many employers are being urged to relax workplace dress codes and allow frequent breaks in order to deal with the rising temperatures.

In the event of a heatwave, jackets and ties should be left at home, while workers should be offered supplies of cold drinks, the TUC say.

Staff should have the chance to go to work earlier or stay later to avoid stifling and unpleasant conditions of the rush hour commute, according to the union organisation.
