The hypocrisy of building motorway in the rain forest

One of the COP's chosen subjects was “support the rainforests”. Are the COP30 delegates hypocrites?

The reason I write that is, Brazil built a four lane six mile long motorway through the Amazon rain forest just to shepherd the delegates to the conference centre.

Surely removing such a huge amount of rainforest was unwarranted, a different venue could so easily have been chosen.

I wonder if anyone else thinks that the COP circus is about extracting money from the richer countries?
