Poundland was a walk on the wild side, now it's losing ground

Poundland is rapidly losing ground. It's estimated that its market shares have fallen 2.3 percentage points (ppts) between 2019 and 2024.
Meanwhile rival retailers such as Home Bargains, B&M and the Range's shares have increased by 7.2 ppts, 6.2 ppts and 1.3 ppts respectively. So why is Poundland becoming pound-less?
Poundland was a staple of my childhood shopping. It was once hailed as the boutique of the bizarre. From clocks of Kate Middleton's face to hotdog-shaped earphones. Or pregnancy tests sited next to the Valentine's Day gifts. How about Poundland-branded toy trucks with the clumsily-stuck-on Poundland sticker on the side?
