Ford's old favourite is no innovator, but is a very good choice, writes Alan Anderson

Little-big Courier still delivering the goods

Courier started off as a big-bodied cubed Fiesta almost 35 years ago but amazingly given its popularity, Ford dropped this little big van when launching the tough-er, larger Transit-based Connect in 2002 only to be re-introduced a decade ago.

The all new Transit Courier, in common with its predecessors, is still broadly Fiesta-based, but now replaces the short-wheelbase Connect range which itself is now superseded by an all new VW shared design.

More so than ever, the new Courier can rightfully be described as a 'little big van' as the generous load area of almost 3.0m3 accepts two full-sized loading pallets plus the security bulkhead features a small hatch to allow extra long items up of to 2.6m long even if it steals some passenger cabin space.
