How the county cricket fixture

The county cricket fixture list looked very different half a century ago.

Nowadays, most counties play all their matches at just one ground - Hampshire at the Utilita Bowl and Somerset at Taunton, to name but two.

Fifty years ago, though, most counties staged home games at a variety of venues.

Somerset used six outgrounds, in addition to Taunton, even playing in Devon (at Torquay). But no county could top Yorkshire, who used seven outgrounds in addition to Headingley.

Here is a list of grounds that were used im 1975 which no longer stage any form of county cricket.

For some traditionalists, it's very much a case of read it and weep...
