HEAVY rain resulted in roads flooding and shops being forced to shut yesterday because of the damage, with more showers forecast this weekend.

- ANDY PHILLIPS

Multiple roads across Devon and Cornwall were closed because of flooding or fallen trees overnight into yesterday morning, while a landslip blocked the A379 south of Modbury.

Photos taken on Thursday night showed Wolseley Road in Plymouth left under water, while both Exeter Street and Union Street were flooded in parts, leaving some city areas inaccessible.

A yellow weather warning had been in place until early yesterday morning, and the region was battered with rain from late Thursday night, with some places also seeing thunder and lightning.

There's something refreshingly honest about a property auction. No protracted negotiations, no offers falling away at the eleventh hour, no months of uncertainty. Just a room full of serious buyers, a skilled auctioneer, and a gavel that brings the whole thing to a clean, decisive close.
