I thought our move to the bungalow would have been quite orderly but it was anything but. The trouble with a big house is you... become a hoarder.

THE big story this week (for us anyway), is that we have sold our house and are moving to a bungalow.

Our house is too big. It's too big to maintain and it's too big to heat. It was OK when we did B&B but for various reasons we haven't done bed and breakfast since covid. Neither of our children wanted this house so we decided to sell it and move to something smaller.

I thought our move to the bungalow would have been quite orderly but it was anything but. The trouble with a big house is that you inadvertently become a hoarder. You never throw anything away, you just move it. I thought snails were slow but they are not as slow as solicitors. Until that is the very end when the two sets of solicitors wound each other up and said we had to go by a certain date or the whole deal was off.

The family that bought the house were quite laid back about our leaving date but not the solicitors. Then began what can only be described as a packing frenzy, all the family rallied around. I wanted the packing to be quite orderly but there wasn't time for that.
