I must admit I was quite looking forward to going to A&E, I thought I would see life in the raw, but it was a disappointment

GOT to be careful here. I never mention names but people who know me or the people in my locality always say that they can often work out who I’m writing about.
There’s a lot of talk in the media lately about the cost of welfare. I know a couple whose relationship broke down so now they have two houses and two cars. As far as I know they don’t pay a penny for either. They are in their 50s and better on their feet than I am. Neither of them works and there’s no children. Most of us know of cases like this. It's people who can play the system like that who make it harder for those in genuine need.
Yesterday I took my nose to A&E, as instructed by my GP. “We don’t do that anymore.” I only wanted it cauterised and my GP had done it about 40 years ago and it only took a few minutes.
After about one minute in the car we passed my GP’s surgery and the irony wasn’t lost on me. After about three minutes our preferred route was blocked, road closed, so we had to take a detour. My daughter is taking me, she worked in a hospital for years, as an orthoptist, so she knows all the medical lingo.

WHY THE AUCTION ROOM IS BACK
There's something refreshingly honest about a property auction. No protracted negotiations, no offers falling away at the eleventh hour, no months of uncertainty. Just a room full of serious buyers, a skilled auctioneer, and a gavel that brings the whole thing to a clean, decisive close.
