Tierney says a two-phase project is designed to keep iconic 25-year-old venue among the world's best for hosting sport and entertainment events
ABI Tierney has revealed plans to redevelop the Principality Stadium to keep up with other modern venues and ensure major events come to Cardiff in the future.
The Welsh Rugby Union CEO was speaking to a Senedd Culture, Communications, Welsh Language, Sport, and International Relations Committee about the plans for the Principality Stadium.
In a couple of weeks, the stadium will play host to both European rugby finals, while in the past it has held the FA Cup final, Champions League final and a plethora of A-list concerts.
When the then Millennium Stadium was built in 1999 it had some of the best facilities in world sport, but 26 years on many other moderns venues have surpassed it in what they offer fans, despite it remaining an elite venue.
