Speed limit among big Labour failures – poll
Western Mail
|February 05, 2026
THE introduction of Wales' 20mph speed limit, the scandal around Vaughan Gething's short tenure as First Minister, and the handling of the NHS are the current Labour administration's biggest failures, pollsters have found.
Think tank and polling organisation More in Common asked 815 people in Wales to judge key policies and decisions from the Welsh Government, including how much they had heard about each and whether they reflected positively or negatively on the government.
The things that were viewed as the biggest failures were the default 20mph speed limit and the resignation of Mr Gething after continued questions about a £200,000 donation to his leadership campaign.
The pollsters found 90% of Welsh people have heard a great deal or a lot about the speed limit, and by 55% to 12%, they say it reflects badly on the government.
