Robinson's plea to manager: 'I don't want to be on the bench'

CALLUM ROBINSON insists he is determined to play a bigger role in Cardiff City's League One title charge after coming off the bench to fire a stunning winner against Stevenage on Tuesday night.
The Republic of Ireland international settled a brutal, bruising contest at the Lamex Stadium with a breathtaking late strike, guiding a half-volley into the far corner just minutes after being introduced late on.
The result pushed Cardiff four points clear at the top of the table, but for Robinson, a player with proven quality in leagues higher than City currently find themselves, the goal also came with a reminder that he wants far more than cameo appearances.
Robinson has had to remain patient this season, starting only four of Cardiff's 18 league games, with League One top scorer Yousef Salech leading the line and Joel Colwill preferred in the No.10 role on Tuesday night.
Despite that, the forward has repeatedly delivered off the bench, and understandably made no secret afterwards of his desire to play more.
"Like every player, I don't want to be on the bench. No one wants to be on the bench," he said after netting the winner.
