Nomads stun the Saints and cut lead down to four points

CONNAH'S Quay Nomads cut the gap at the top of the JD Cymru Premier table to four points with a magnificent 3-1 home triumph over league leaders and reigning champions The New Saints.
It was only the third defeat of the campaign for Craig Harrison’s TNS side and the first by the Nomads over their big rivals for four-and-a-half years.
With only two games to go before the split - the Nomads host Barry Town United on Saturday and then go to Caernarfon Town net week while TNS welcome Bala Town to Park Hall this weekend before hosting Colwyn Bay on 9 January it means the title race remains open and the fight for European places is going to be even tougher.
“It's a fantastic result and with the team we've got we feel we can put it on anyone.
“We lost 3-0 to them earlier in the season, but in the second half of that game I thought we were good enough to have deserved a point,” said Nomads boss John Disney.
“We knew we would face long periods without the ball, but we tried to force them into a few traps that we'd worked on and to make something of them.
“And when you've got the quality that we possess we'll always look to take those chances.”
The Nomads got off to a dream start when Rhys Hughes converted a ninth minute penalty and then Max Woodcock made it 2-0 just before the break.
