A MAN murdered a father-of-three by stabbing him with a large knife in a park in a "revenge attack" after they had been involved in a "scuffle", a court has heard.

- PHIL DEWEY

Georgie Tannetta, 20, is alleged to have told someone he would stab James Brogan, 43, over the incident.

A court was told yesterday Mr Brogan died after bleeding heavily from a stab wound to his right upper arm caused by a knife used by Tannetta at a park in Cardiff on November 12 last year.

Mr Brogan suffered multiple organ failure as a result of a cardiac arrest and died in hospital the following morning.

Tannetta, of Rhodfa Crughywel, Trowbridge, denies murder, manslaughter and possession of a bladed article.

A trial at Newport Crown Court yesterday heard police were called at 4pm on November 12 to a recreation ground near Coleford Road, St Mellons, which was known locally as the Train Park.

Mr Brogan had been stabbed and had collapsed while bleeding heavily.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene and en route to University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, and at the intensive care unit at the hospital.

However, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he died from his injuries.
