Low-carbon homes goal to be missed

THE Welsh Government is set to miss its target to deliver 20,000 low-carbon social homes for rent by next year.

The latest official data published yesterday revealed that since the target was set in 2021, 13,399 homes had been delivered by March 2025.
Welsh Government officials said that work is ongoing to accelerate schemes where possible and project that the maximum number of homes that can be delivered by the end of the government term is 18,652. If this is delivered, the massive target will have been missed by 7%.
The cabinet secretary for housing, Jayne Bryant MS, said the government knew the goal was “ambitious” when it was set.
