Jardim set for talks as Exlies eye safety
Western Mail
|April 12, 2025
NEWPORT COUNTY can mathematically secure their League Iwo survival this afternoon and head coach Nelson Jardim insists he has the “fight” to carry on and help the club achieve more next season.
-
Jardim’s men are 18th in the table 11 points clear of 23rd-placed Morecambe with five games left to play.
County know that a victory over Colchester United at Rodney Parade today will be enough to earn another year in the fourth tier, if Morecambe fail to beat bottom club Carlisle United.
It was Carlisle who fought back from 2-0 down to beat the Exiles 3-2 last Saturday, putting more pressure on under-fire Jardim.
The Portuguese admits it has been a difficult first season in charge, but he insists he’s enjoying the challenge.
