INTEREST SHOWN IN CARDIFF DEAL

ONE of the administrators involved in Cardiff being transferred into the control of the Welsh Rugby Union has said that there are buyers interested in the Arms Park club.

PwC were appointed administrators of the club on Wednesday afternoon, with the WRU completing a takeover hours later.

Speaking on BBC Radio Cymru, one of the administrators, Rob Lewis, said: “We've been talking to a couple of people over the last week but buying a rugby club is quite a complicated process so there was no one who could stand in to take the club over without a bit more work.

“The only real thing we had to do was hand it over to the union for a temporary time and then the union will be able to talk to people who are interested in taking the club on.

“There are people who are interested. Running a rugby club is an expensive process, rugby clubs, football clubs run at a loss for the most part so I’m sure the union will be successful in solving the problem, but I'm sure it will take a couple of months again to solve it in the long-term.”
