Inquest is told of mercenary’s Ukraine suicide

‘A SOLDIER who fought as a merce- nary in Ukraine took his own life after being in agonising pain from two injuries, an inquest heard.

Thomas Phillips
Thomas Phillips, 29, joined the International Legion after Russia invaded Ukraine and became a sniper and team leader.
He was found dead in his apartment in the city of Kharkid on May 21, 2025.
‘The cause of death was given as a head injury caused by a handheld gun. The inquest in Ruthin heard that, in addition to being in physical pain, Mr Phillips had mental health problems.
