Polls ahead of May's Senedd election keep showing the party is either on course to be the biggest party, or be within touching distance of it.

In Caerphilly, their by-election candidate is seen as one of the two most likely to not only take the seat, giving his colleagues a boost ahead of May, which would not only reward a loyal servant to the party, but really sock it to Labour (and Reform UK) in the process.

There is bound to be a spring in the party faithful's step as they gather at Swansea's Brangwyn Hall today for its latest conference, but their leader isn't cracking open the bottles yet.
