JAMES Bloom stole the glory for Newport City as he hammered home the penalty that earned his side a 9-8 shootout victory at Carmarthen Town to send his side into the semifinals of the southern section of the Welsh Blood Service League Cup.

The game had ended up as a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes with Luke Cummings wiping out Owen Bancroft's first-half goal for the visitors with his 86th-minute strike.
That sent the game to penalties and the first 16 attempts hit the target.
It fell to Tyler Aylward to keep Carmarthen ahead in the contest, but his miss left the door open for Bloom, who had only been brought on as a 93rd-minute substitute, to win the game with his assured strike.
