Trust appeals to public to help buy 'Giant's Lair'

An appeal has been launched to buy the land surrounding the famous Cerne Abbas Giant.

The National Trust is hoping to raise £330,000 to help fund the purchase and care of 138 hectares surrounding the famous landmark in Dorset.

So far more than £2 million has been raised to purchase the land known as Giant's Lair, which also includes Giant Hill, and an array of wildlife.

The campaign is being supported by actor and writer Sir Stephen Fry and Countryfile and Good Morning Britain presenter Sean Fletcher.

Sir Stephen said: “This is a very rare opportunity to protect a huge swathe of beautiful and biodiverse countryside surrounding the Cerne Abbas Giant.

“Please join me in supporting this appeal.”
