GLOUCESTER City manager Daf Williams expressed delight with the character of his team after they came back from 1-0 down to defeat Premier South title rivals Poole Town 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.
-
New Meadow Park saw three goals in the first 17 minutes, with Poole taking the lead after just six minutes through a Shaq Gwengwe penalty.
Gloucester levelled just 10 minutes later from a Joe Hanks goal.
Almost instantly, Tigers scored their second with an Aaron Wildig half-volley on the edge of the box.
In the 60th minute, King Baidoo put the hosts 3-1 up before Poole’s substitute Henry Spalding’s 83rd minute strike gave the visitors hope. However, the hosts held on for all three points.
Afterwards Gloucester boss Williams said: “I was really pleased with that sort of bounce-back ability that the group showed today.”
