LEO Pecover “needs time” to continue his development, says Gerhard Struber, after the “cheeky” youngster made his Bristol City debut against Southampton in the 3-1 midweek win.

The teenager was a second-half substitute as the Robins ended a four-match winless run at home with victory over the Saints on Tuesday.

Anis Mehmeti’s fifth goal of the season and a second-half Scott Twine brace ensured City came from behind to climb up to fourth place in the Sky Bet Championship.

Having named him in each of the previous five matchday squads, Struber turned to Pecover in the 72nd minute. The 18-year-old replaced Twine as the right-sided number ten behind front man Sinclair Armstrong and worked hard to help City claim all three points.
