MP 'deeply disappointed' by go-ahead for huge quarry plans

AN MP has criticised a decision that will allow a minerals firm to dig a quarry the size of 38 football pitches at the Cotswold Water Park.

Swindon-based Earthline has been given permission to extract nearly half a million tonnes of sand and gravel along with a million tonnes of soil from the 27-hectare site. The company will be allowed to quarry 470,000 tonnes of aggregate in five phases over eight years from Wheatleys Farm, Ashton Keynes.
