As the hit sitcom Shrinking returns, Jason Segel tells YOLANTHE FAWEHINMI about playing a man beset by grief
-
SUPPORT: Paul, played by Harrison Ford, continues to offer Jimmy good advice
WHEN Shrinking first aired in January 2023, the show’s star and co-creator Jason Segel was surprised by how many people it resonated with.
The hit comedy series centres on Jason’s character Jimmy, a grieving therapist who has lost his wife and now tends to meddle in the personal lives of his clients, despite the disapproval of his boss Paul, played by Harrison Ford, and coworker Gaby, played by Jessica Williams.
The show is now back for a third series and follows on from the tense conclusion of series two, which found Jimmy moments away from taking his own life.
His relationship with his daughter Alice had come to a head and he found a way to save the drunk driver who killed his wife, but the new episodes find Jimmy still struggling to move on with his life and let himself find love again.
