Distinctive e-bike was key to finding killer in ‘challenging’ case for detective
Western Daily Press
|November 21, 2025
THE detective who led the search for justice for murdered Eddie Kinuthia has spoken about the challenge of trying to piece together the events of the night he died.
-
There wasn't much for the police to go on, but an e-bike seen in the area was the key. It was quite distinctive, worth thousands of pounds, and became the focal point for the investigation.
Detectives figured fairly swiftly that this was a revenge attack. Eddie didn’t have any enemies in St Pauls. But he was a well-known figure in the community in that area. And St Pauls is the territory of a group calling themselves the 2-4s. Eddie wasn’t a member of the 2-4s, but was friends with some who were. Their sworn enemies are the 1-6s, a different group of mainly young men based around areas further east in Fishponds, Eastville and Hillfields.
