Life on the famous 'Hovis Hill', where tourists are amazed the historic homes are occupied

- FILIPA GASPAR

A little slice of heaven

RESIDENTS of a hill made famous in a bread advert say they love living there - but tourists often peak through windows and play the theme tune on their phones.

The cobbled Gold Hill in Shaftesbury gained a special place in history for being the setting for the nation's 'all-time favourite' commercial - a Hovis advert in 1973.

It is still sometimes referred to as "Hovis Hill" - attracting thousands of tourists every year keen to get photos of the famous sight. It is also one of England's steepest streets and is home to cottages built in the 17th century.

People lucky enough to live there expressed their love of the iconic street.
