A 61 and 60-year-old couple from Wells pedalled their way to success in the London to Brighton Bike Ride for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) on June 15.

Teacher Sian Evans and engineer Richard Evans were two of the over 14,000 riders on June 15 who took on the 54-mile route from Clapham Common to the Brighton seafront, all with the same mission to fund lifesaving research.

The BHF’s flagship fundraising event has been running for almost half a century. So far this year, it has raised over £1.6 million for the charity's ground breaking research into new treatments and cures for cardiovascular diseases. Richard and Sian have raised an incredible £1,631 so far by tackling the mammoth cycle.

The pair took on the challenge in memory of their close friend, Sarah, who died of an unexpected heart attack on May 15 last year.
