FLEDGLING local karting star William Robinson endured arguably his toughest weekend to date during round four of the FAT Karting League Pro Championship.

Held at Red Lodge in Suffolk, a new track for William, after an eight-week break in the championship, the early leader was hoping to bounce back from a harsh penalty last time out which saw him miss out on victory and finish fourth.

William lit up the track during Saturday’s afternoon practice, enjoying the flow with its technical sections, and he set the fastest lap of both cadets and cadet lights mixed.

Each session, William managed to find more time and improve as he topped the sheets and set a 49.03 lap in session three, before coming down to 48.88 in practice four.

After the first practice session went well on Sunday, William qualified second and just two tenths off pole. With a change of karts, William lined up on the front row of what was expected to be an exciting pre-final race.
