'SUPER-STRENGTH' DRUG KILLED MAN

A MAN died after overdosing on a street drug many times stronger than heroin, an inquest has concluded.

Gareth Jamie Thomas, 49, was found dead on May 11 last year at his home in Trecynon, Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Pontypridd Coroners' Court heard that Mr Thomas' mother found his body at his address in Meirion Street. He was lying on the floor of his bedroom with an uncapped hypodermic needle between his teeth and there was drug paraphernalia at the property.

Coroner Patricia Morgan said: "Gareth Jamie Thomas had a known history of using illicit drugs and had been under the care of drug and alcohol services in the past."
