MAN WAVED A KNIFE ON BUSY BEACH

A MAN who moved to Wales to get away from trouble threatened to stab someone with a knife on a beach, a court heard.

Laura Knightly, prosecuting, told Caernarfon Crown Court that at about 5pm on June 7 last year, James Sandhu began verbally abusing a woman who was standing outside the Tal y Don Hotel in Barmouth telling her, in terms, she should “close her legs”.

When the woman's partner pulled up in his car, she told him what had happened and he challenged the defendant. Sandhu said they should take the matter to the nearby beach.

The court heard on the beach, the defendant produced a knife and began waving it about while threatening to “shaft” the woman's partner.
