FANS excited for Gavin & Stacey's long-awaited last-ever episode are in for an extra special Christmas present with the return of Sheridan Smith to the cast.
The storyline for Gavin & Stacey: The Finale is understood to bring back Sheridan's character Ruth "Rudi" Smith, the gobby sister of co-writer James Corden's Smithy.
Rudi, who annoyed her brother by insisting on also being called Smithy appeared in series two and three of the hit sitcom, but was missing from the 2019 Christmas special.
Sources working on the BBC show say informal discussions have already taken place with Sheridan, 42, despite rumours she would not be involved.
