Watchdog: Police DID spy on victim's relative

A GRIEVING family member of one of the Hillsborough victims was put under police surveillance, a watchdog has revealed.

Over the years families and campaigners have made repeated allegations they had been subject to police snooping. Many reported strange clicking during phone calls.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct looked into 27 complaints from 25 people with connections to the 1989 tragedy, in which 97 Liverpool fans died in a horror crush.

While many complaints were too vague to investigate, one was upheld.
