REBELS are said to have seized control of most of Syria's largest city as they try to topple Bashar al-Assad.
The Russia-backed dictator is battling insurgents in Aleppo for the first time in eight years.
They broke through government defence lines on Friday, entering the city's western neighbourhood with little resistance.
Fighters were filmed at police headquarters, in the city centre, as well as the medieval citadel.
They tore down posters of Assad, stepping on some and burning others, and toppled a statue of the president's brother.
