Lammy puts £47 limit on appeals over rip-off rents

RENTERS will be charged just £47 to appeal ripoff rent increases after David Lammy intervened.

Ministers are bringing in a fee to access rent tribunals, and officials suggested charging well in excess of £100. But the much lower rate has now been decided.

And a Labour source told this newspaper: "That was the result of David Lammy intervening to stop officials’ plans for fees for rental tribunals running into the hundreds of pounds ahead of landmark Renters’ Rights Act coming into force on May 1.”
