With 5 kg food grains and Rs 170 per beneficiary, the Karnataka government walks the talk, chalks out plans to procure grains through tender.

The Karnataka government walked the talk on Saturday by delivering its second guarantee scheme of 10 kg grain per person for all those who have Antyodaya and BPL cards after the first Shakti guarantee scheme that envisaged to provide free transport for all the women across the state.
While 5 kg of any choice of grain—be it rice, wheat or jowar—is being given, Rs 34 per kg of grain for the remaining 5 kg will be given through DBT under the Anna Bhagya scheme.
The scheme is the brainchild of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who had first introduced it in 2013 and now is taking it further by increasing the quota for the beneficiaries by an additional 3 kg. The main objective behind launching Karnataka Anna Bhagya Scheme is to provide grains free cost to poor people who are facing difficulty to take care of their daily food needs.
