The Singapore women's football team went on a rampage and notched their biggest victory when they hammered Macau 9-0 on July 16, in what will be a confidence booster ahead of the Asean Women's Championship later in 2024.
Borussia Dortmund's Danelle Tan grabbed a hat-trick, while leftback Putri Syaliza, who plays for Oakland University in the United States, scored twice as the world No. 138 side showed their bite against their 174th-ranked opponents in an international friendly at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
Singapore coach Karim Bencherifa was happy with his players' efforts in the resounding victory.
At the post-match press conference, he said: "The team made history and I'm proud of them. I'm happy for the fans to witness their team play a very good performance.
"There are a lot of positives to build on from this. I don't want to take anything away from the players. They gave their 100 per cent and showed their quality... so let's be happy about that."
