Red Devils show promise but need results fast

Last week's season-opening 1-0 loss to Arsenal drew plenty of positives but the result, the manner of defeat was of clear annoyance to Manchester United's manager.

Despite flashes of inspiration shown by new signings Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, a set-piece goal conceded sloppily and a lack of clear-cut chances left the Red Devils unable to get a result against the unimpressive Gunners.

The selection of the inexperienced Altay Bayindir in goal and veteran Tom Heaton as reserve when Andre Onana was available set a mark of Amorim's disappointment in his goalkeeping options.

United fans' hopes were raised by talk of a prodigal's return for David de Gea or even their club snapping up Gianluigi Donnarumma. Instead, Senne Lammens, a former Belgium Under-21 goalkeeper from Royal Antwerp, is set to be signed. It is hoped that he can be the next Thibaut Courtois.
