Enjoy a hassle-free holiday at Club Med Kani, where entertainment and dining options are included in the cost of stay
MALDIVES - As I take in the awe-inspiring sight of Maldivian waters — each wave a glimmering dance of turquoise and teal — the surface suddenly stirs.
A flyboarder swoops into view. He surges skywards, propelled by jets of water blasting under his feet. Dramatically, he raises a vibrant "Welcome to Kani" sign.
With agile twists and dives, he leaves a trail of mist. Along with the pulsing rhythm of traditional boduberu drums, it is a theatrical welcome.
Located 25 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport in the capital of Malé, Club Med Kani is located on the lush, private island of Kanifinolhu, where a 2km stretch of powdery sand melts into the iridescent lagoon.
The property, which opened in 2000, pioneered the all-inclusive premium concept in the Maldives. Guests can enjoy a hassle-free vacation, with a diverse array of activities, dining options, drinks and entertainment included in the cost of stay.
Today, with 61 per cent of its clientele being families, the resort continues to expand its family-friendly offerings.
An indoor toddler room has been newly constructed, furnished with padded play areas, slides and sensory corners.
In 2025, the resort will also launch the Family Marine Centre, a space designed for children to enjoy activities, such as crafts and card games designed in-house, with their parents and caregivers.
PLAY - THE CLUB MED WAY Club Med shines in its vast array of active experiences — more than 30 in total — for all members of the family.
During my four-day stay in November 2024, I am spoilt for choice. The ocean is still and crystal-clear, perfect for kayaking and my maiden attempt at stand-up paddle-boarding. My core is put to the test as my board gently wobbles, but I soon glide across the azure waters with each stroke.
