Eight Grade 1 and 2 events to wrap South Africa's The Championships up with a bang

It's Champions Galore at Turffontein Day 3 Finale

JOHANNESBURG - South African horse racing fans are in for a treat this Saturday on March 29, as Turffontein plays host to Day 3 of The Championships - a 12-race card stacked with top-class action.

A major highlight of the day is the Hong Kong World Pool event, allowing punters to wager into massive international TAB pools while ensuring that local bets do not negatively affect payout values.

With a 1 million rand (S$74,000) carryover in the Pick 6, the pool is expected to swell to around 5 million rands, adding extra excitement for bettors.

Among the four Grade 1 races set down for decision, the headline event is the 2 million rand Hong Kong Jockey Club World Pool Premier's Champions Challenge (2,000m), where last year's winner Royal Victory makes his return.

Trained by Nathan Kotzen, the Pathfork five-year-old has already claimed both the 2023 Grade 1 Betway Summer Cup (2,000m) and the Champions Challenge at Turffontein.

Singapore history-making and Smart Star's Singapore Gold Cup-winning jockey Muzi Yeni, who guided him to both victories, is back in the saddle.
