Shimla is one of the best-known hill stations that tourists throng to. Once the summer capital of British India, Shimla is now the capital of Himachal Pradesh.
Tourists normally mill around popular hotspots - the Ridge and the Mall - which are the epicentre of tourist activities in Shimla.
I was fortunate to be posted in Shimla while in the bank’s service. The two-year sojourn offered me the opportunities of exploring Shimla in ways that tourists who come for a couple of days do not get. Aided by official heft I got myriad opportunities of discovering the academic side of Shimla which a tourist does not even get to know about. I will touch upon four landmarks that embellish Shimla uniquely.
