Govt sets up panel to assess flood damage in Sikkim; approves ₹44.8 crore relief

So far, 2,011 people have been rescued, while the calamity has affected 22,034 people, according to the Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority

The Centre has approved Rs 44.8 crore to aid relief and reshe T cue operations in Sikkim where 14 people have died following flash floods in the Teesta river basin, an official statement said on Friday.
The BJP-led ruling dispensation has also constituted an inter-ministerial central team to assess the damage caused due to the glacial lake outburst flood in the northeastern state.
