OBC groups rally in Nagpur demanding 42 per cent quota, oppose Kunbi status for Marathas

Other Backward Caste (OBCs) groups led by Congress Legislative Party leader Vijay Wadettiwar as well as other OBCleaders under the banner of the Sakal OBC Samaj, organised a rally in Nagpur on Friday which began at Yashwant Stadium and ended at Samvidhan Chowk, demanding an increased OBC quota of 42 per cent.

The development has come after the Fadnavis government began implementing a Government Resolution (GR) issued on 2 September which allows Marathas who can prove their Kunbilineageto Mumbai by Manoj Jarange Patil.

Wadettiwar criticised Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar saying: "This is merely a glimpse. The real picture is yet to be screened. If you have the will, increase the OBC quota to 42 per cent like it is in Telangana state. If you do that, we are with you."
