JP national spokesperson Ajay Alok is known for his frank, precise, and fact-based political comments. He began his political career with the Janata Dal (United) and was once considered very close to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He has always been a critic of RJD chief Lalu Yadav’s ideology.

In 2022, when Nitish decided to join the Mahagathbandhan, he was expelled from the JD(U) on charges of engaging in anti-party activities. Later, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Upon joining, Alok said, “Ifeven one percent of my contribution can help advance PM Modi’s vision, it would be a matter of great pride for me.”

In an exclusive interview with Imran Mojib of The Statesman, he discussed various aspects of the upcoming assembly elections.

Excerpts:

Q@Howdoyouseetheupcoming assembly elections in Bihar?

A: The overall scenario is very good. The narrative of our good governance and campaign is resonating with the people of Bihar. We are confident that the results of the 2010 Assembly elections will be repeated.

Q: How significant will the Bihar Assembly elections bein shaping the national political landscape?

A: Bihar is a political state. It always determines the political course of the country. The results will have a significant impact. Especially for the NDA, this will mark an upsurge. This election will also be important because, for the first time, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls was conducted in Bihar and voter list correction was carried out across the state. We have also seen a trend of reverse migration of infiltrators due to these government initiatives.

Q:TheNDA has notannounced its CM face yet.

A: Nitish Kumar is our leader. There is no confusion at all.

Q: But the BJP central leadership has repeatedly said that the CM will be elected by the MLAs.

Jeethu Joseph's Miragelooks morelikeaplaythanafilm

Often, a director's first creations remain his or her very best. Satyajit Ray made an umpteen number of films, but when I spoke to many people across continents, they swore by his first work, Pather Panchali (Song of the Little Road). My friend and legendary movie critic, the late Derek Malcolm, always felt that Pather Panchali was brilliant.
