CBDT Extends Last Date of Filing Income Tax Returns to 15 Sept from 31 July

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) extended the last date of filing income tax returns for assessment year (AY) 2025-26 to 15 September, 2025, from 31 July, 2025.
"CBDT has decided to extend the due date of filing of ITRs, which are due for filing by 31 July 2025, to 15 September 2025," said the income tax department in a post on X platform.
The extension comes in the wake of the new structural and content revisions aimed at simplifying compliance, enhancing transparency, and enabling accurate reporting, the tax body mentioned.
