Talent Is Finished In Pakistan, Will Have To Play Qualifying Rounds

Pakistan's abysmal run in international cricket has drawn harsh criticism from former cricketers with Basit Ali slamming the team's old-fashioned approach and also sounding a stern warning that with that kind of performance, it will eventually need to appear in the ICC qualifying rounds to fight for a place in major tournaments.

After failing to win a single match in the Champions Trophy at home, Pakistan travelled to New Zealand for a white-ball series with fresh faces and Salman Ali Agha as the captain of their T20I side. But unfortunately, there was no change in the results even against a New Zealand outfit that was without many of their first-XI players who had flown to India to take part in IPL 2025.

In the five-match T20Is against New Zealand, the Pakistanis suffered a 1-4 drubbing, before losing the first two matches of the three-match ODI series against the same opponents, to slump to yet another meek defeat.

"If we don't make decisions and improve our base, otherwise we will have to play qualifying rounds. We lost all 10 wickets to pacers. Talent has finished in Pakistan. Pakistan's cricket starts with the name of Babar Azam and ends with it," Basit said on his YouTube channel.
