KMC streamlines approvals for three-storeyed buildings on 300-450 sq ft plots, while permitting up to 10-metre-high buildings on one-cottah plots with specific space allocation
Aiming to curb illegal construction, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation has decided to allow building permits to small plots starting from 300 square feet while reducing the mandatory space to be left around the structure.
According to mayor Firhad Hakim, based on the report of the committee set up to look into the matter, the civic body during a recent meeting of the members-mayor-in-council decided to sanction plans for construction on smaller plots.
Following the decision, a three-storeyed building can be built on small plots of 300 to 450 square feet in size by leaving space of one foot on three sides and three feet at the rear.
