Jalangi Nodi Samaj wins national river conservation award

In a proud moment for Bengal's river conservation movement, Jalangi Nodi Samaj - a citizens' collective formed to save the dying rivers of Nadia - has been conferred with the "Save River Campaign Award" at the 4th International SAIARD River Congress (IRC4), held recently at the India International Centre (IIC), New Delhi.
The award was received on behalf of the organisation by Dr Amitav Sengupta, a noted environmental researcher and senior member of Jalangi Nodi Samaj, whose leadership and sustained advocacy have played a key role in mobilising public awareness and scientific interventions for river restoration.
