Assam Chief Minister Biswa Sarma flags rapid demographic change, cites 2027 census projection

Expressing concern over the rapid demographic change in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday claimed the population of Bangladeshi origin Mia Muslims will be 40 per cent in 2027 census.
He said this while addressing the two-day state executive meeting of the BJP, and added that nowhere in the world there is a state where the number of indigenous people are going below 60 per cent, and the number of Bangladeshi origin Muslims are going above 40 per cent gradually.
